Orion has no head. Art is the only master. O.h. looks for some mysterious mix of surprising perspective and technical command. It’s entirely subjective, and like Orion in the summer sky, a moving proposition.

Each submission is handled with care. In advance, thank you for your support. Include fiction (very short, preferably), 2- 6 poems, creative nonfiction or essays within the body of an email, or inside one single document file, to: submit@orionheadless.com. Art should be submitted as .jpg files. Include a cover letter and third-person biographical note. Upon acceptance, you will be asked for a photo to go with the bio (optional). Orion has no head, but we like seeing yours.

Response times vary, but we endeavor to keep it within 4 weeks. Updating times vary.

Only unpublished work. Please give O.h. credit if work published here later appears elsewhere. O.h. claims one-time and archival Web publishing rights, but the copyright remains yours. Simultaneous submissions OK, with immediate notice if a piece is accepted elsewhere. With your notification that a piece must be withdrawn, resend the entire body of work to consider, with that piece deleted. This will decrease the chance that something gets lost in the email cracks. Please allow 30 days to submit more work after a rejection. Please allow 60 days to submit again after we publish your work.

Acting head is Sara Fitzpatrick Comito. You can find out more about her [here].
